Physically, the earth is a loose, crumbling, and unpredictable element. Yet, grounding ourselves within it becomes an essential phase of inner maturity and growth. Unconsciously, this deeply human journey of settling down and finding stability manifests upon the canvas layer by layer.

GROUNDING LAYER No. 1 (Sazemēšanās Slānis Nr. 1) is an original large-scale abstract painting that forms the first half of an expressive contemporary diptych. 

Created on a bold, dark canvas, this artwork features dynamic gestural strokes of natural earth tones, warm ochre, terracotta, and contrasting structural shades. Through expressive palette knife techniques and structured layering, the piece captures both the fragility of raw earth and a solid foundation of visual harmony.

DIPTYCH PAIRING:
